Polishing my Resume
Even though I am not actively looking for work, I still think it is important to keep my resume up to date. I update it every three months and make sure that the information is current so that if I ever find myself without work, I can print it off and drop off my resumes as soon as possible. It has worked in the past and I feel a lot better knowing that my resume is ready to go.
This time I do have some additions to make to. You see, a couple of months ago, I did some contract work for an iPad app development company and I didn’t add it to my resume. I know that iPad apps are very popular at the moment, and I think that having that job experience mentioned on my resume could be a real benefit.
I am also going to remove one of my jobs that are on my resume. Specifically, the job that I had as a administrative assistant ten years ago doesn’t really belong on my resume. I am a firm believer that anything over ten years old (except for the education you have received) doesn’t really belong on a resume since it is not a reflection of your current skill set. So, I will take this one off.
Surprisingly, this set of revisions only took me about fifteen minutes. All I have to do now is back the resume up online and then I am done. I guess I will revisit my resume after Christmas and make the necessary changes – for now, it is ready to go if I need it.
